LAA Office, in collaboration with the Columbus Area Arts Council, led outreach efforts, design, and implementation of a new asphalt mural and parklet for the 6th Street Arts Alley. The project is a continuation of ongoing efforts to promote and celebrate artistic culture locally through public art, performances, workshops, and exhibitions in downtown Columbus, Indiana. The new mural is inspired by Sol LeWitt’s well-known wall drawing series and was implemented line by line with the help of community volunteers and local artists. The redesign of the street also offers shaded seating and access to public wi-fi, and will test partial closer of the street to vehicular traffic to encourage more pedestrian-centered activities for the neighborhood.
